Accessibility statement
We want as many people as possible to be able to use the House of Nursing Ethics. This statement explains how accessible it is, what we know doesn’t work yet, and how to tell us about a problem.
How you can use this site
We have built the site so that you can:
- use all of it with a keyboard alone, including every part of the House, the cards, the guides and Find a scenario;
- use it with a screen reader, as the pages are structured with headings and landmarks and the pop-up panels announce themselves and keep focus inside until you close them;
- skip straight to the main content with the “Skip to main content” link at the top of each page;
- zoom in or enlarge text without losing content, and use the site on a phone, tablet or computer; and
- close any pop-up panel with the Escape key, and use the site with animations reduced if your device is set to reduce motion.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this site is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 level AA. The site has been checked with automated testing tools and by keyboard. [A full manual audit has not yet been carried out: KCL to confirm whether one has been, and by whom, and update this paragraph.]
Known problems
We are not yet aware of any parts of the site that fail WCAG 2.2 level AA, but a full audit may find some. [Update this list after the audit, for example: “Some card images do not have a full text description”.]
The illustration of the House is visual, so each part of it is also provided as a link that a screen reader or keyboard can reach, with the same name and description.
Tell us about a problem
If you find something you can’t use, or you need information on this site in a different format, such as large print, audio or an accessible document, contact us at [accessibility contact email address]. Tell us the address of the page, what went wrong, and the device and assistive technology you were using if you can. We aim to reply within [5 working days].
If you are not happy with our reply
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) enforces the accessibility regulations. If you are not happy with how we respond, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
